Behavior + Training Consultation

The Purr Palace is a unique boutique boarding accomodation right in my home environment. It is a great option for those who want a quiet home away from home for their kitty companion when they can’t stay home. Even during holidays and other busy times, only a small number of guests are hosted to limit the stress and provide an option for more reserved purrsonalites. Cats who are of even temperament and tolerant of other cats can find solace in this boutique home-based “kitty hotel”. First time boarders and long stays are welcomed! Cats who are healthy and contagious disease free, from ages 6 months to 16 years, are eligible for boarding.

Personal enclosed "condos" are provided for the safety and comfort of all the guests as newly arriving guests settle in, but plenty of free roaming time is offered. Cats may choose to socialize amongst each other or maintain their space; their needs will be closely assessed though out their stay. The Purr Palace maintains a high standard of cleanliness at all times by following all disinfecting guidelines provided by the health department. Limiting the amount of guests staying at one time achieves this and a low stress environment. Personal heating pads are used in the colder season and Feliway brand pheromone diffusers made for multi-cat households, to further increase the feel-good vibes. Guests can also enjoy beautiful and stimulating garden views from the catio, year-round, with lots of active critters and lush greenery.

Multiple doors and gates keep the Purr Palace room safe from doors to the outside and other resident cats. All of my personal cats in the home are treated for fleas monthly, fully vaccinated and free of all contagious diseases. Guests will have nightly supervision just one room away as well as 24hr camera security.

While you are welcome to visit and check out the accommodations for your special feline friend, The Purr Palace cat room is located in my private home, in a residential neighborhood. To ensure the privacy and safety of all boarding kitties, caretakers, and neighbors, visits are limited to drop-offs and pick-ups—and serious prospective clients—by appointment only. Your understanding is appreciated!

While Kitty Poppins believes all kitties deserve high quality care and would love to be able to offer it to all, not all cats will do well in a communal boarding situation.

There are traits that make a kitty a good candidate for boarding or if they should receive care in the comfort of their own home or stay with someone they are comfortable with.

These lists are not conclusive but can be a useful guide if you are still deciding what type of care to seek for your cat.

Your cat may be a good candidate for boarding if they:

  • Are well socialized and are curious about, enjoy or at least tolerate the company of other cats in their space.

  • Are laid back temperament around people and other pets

  • Are curious about new places and transition well from one to the other.

  • Have boarded before previously and had a good experience.

Your cat will not be a good candidate for boarding if they:

  • Are feral, formerly feral or unsocialized.

  • Do not tolerate the presence of other cats nearby.

  • Cannot be picked up or otherwise be handled or have severe crate stress.

  • Have ongoing acute or chronic medical issues or injuries

  • Have severe food allergies and frequent loose stool

  • Are blind or deaf

  • Are elderly and in fragile health

  • Have bitten a human or another animal

  • Have aggressive tendencies

  • Vocalize loudly when stressed or at night.

  • Have issues with using a litter box or spray.

  • Have not tolerated boarding in the past
